Made more than 30 years ago and carefully stored as it continued to age, the Peter White Concerto Violin was later finished using Peter White’s distinctive varnishing technique and professionally set up by the luthiers at our San Antonio workshop. The result is a mature, handsome instrument with a warm, balanced tone and excellent response.

The Peter White Concerto Violin offers a rare combination of aged materials, traditional craftsmanship, distinctive varnish, and expert modern setup.
The violin itself was carefully made more than 30 years ago using seasoned tonewood. After construction, it remained protected in our instrument storage area for several decades, allowing the wood and completed instrument to continue aging naturally.
The instrument was later varnished by award-winning violin maker Peter White using the varnish and application techniques he developed through years of research and experience. The rich oil varnish features a deep red color over a luminous golden ground, giving the violin warmth, depth, and an appearance inspired by fine historic Italian instruments. Subtle variations in color and shading give each instrument its own individual character.
After varnishing, the violin was brought to our main shop in San Antonio, where it received a complete professional setup by our experienced luthiers. The bridge, soundpost, fingerboard, pegs, strings, and other components were carefully fitted and adjusted for excellent playability, response, and tonal balance.
The result is a mature, handsome violin with a warm, balanced tone and excellent depth of character. The Peter White Concerto Violin combines an instrument made from aged wood more than 30 years ago with Peter White’s distinctive varnishing work and the expert setup of the Antonio Strad Violin workshop.
Peter White has received numerous gold medals in American violin-making competitions for his violins, violas, and cellos. He also received a gold medal at the 2010 International Competition for Antiqued Instruments in Cremona, Italy, for his detailed interpretation of instruments by Andrea Amati. Much of his violin-making education was completed under Jan Pawlikowski in Kraków, Poland, along with additional experience in European violin workshops.
