Joseph Barrera has been playing the violin for over 20 years and teaching for over 13 years. He believes that every student is different and strives to adapt to every students’ needs and learning pace. He is proficient in all Suzuki Books Vol. 1-10. In addition to classical training, he also teaches movie music, pop and fiddle tunes.
He has studied Music Education at UTSA. His past teachers were Dr. Yuli Jiang, Stephanie Sant’Ambrogio (previous San Antonio Symphony concertmaster), and Mary Ellen Goree (current SA Symphony 2nd violin principal). In his high school years, he has been Concertmaster for 4 years in a row for the All-Region 11 Orchestra (NISD). He is also a 2 time All-State violinist. He has played with the San Angelo Symphony, Symphony of the Hills. Currently, he is a sub with the San Antonio Symphony and plays with the Saltarelli Community Orchestra on his spare time as part of his community service.
His teaching experience include 5 years with NISD as the 5th Grade strings instructor at Powell, Cable, Helotes, and Passmore Elementary Schools in addition to his lesson studio.

We are proud to have viola and violin instructor Kenneth Holmes at our location at 7530 Bandera Rd Ste 108. Kenneth Holmes began playing viola at the age of 11 at Rasco Middle School in Lake Jackson, Texas. He is currently enrolled at Texas Lutheran University, majoring in Viola Performance. An active performer, Kenneth is principal violist of the TLU Chamber Orchestra, a section violist in the Mid-Texas Symphony, served as principal violist of the Southwest Symphony for two years, and also does miscellaneous solo and chamber work.
Alejandro Padro-Fuentes is currently completing a degree in Music Studies (Music Education) at the University of Texas at San Antonio, studying violin with Mary Ellen Goree of the San Antonio Symphony. During his time at UTSA, Mr. Padro-Fuentes was a member of the UTSA Symphony Orchestra serving as principal second violin and concertmaster. He was also actively involved with the American String Teachers Association where he was president during the 2015-2016 school year as well as the UTSA String Project, a nationally recognized program providing quality music education in the San Antonio area. Other professional affiliations include the Texas Music Educators Association and Project LARA, a string quartet comprised of local musicians aiming to raise the performance standard of college level ensembles.
Mr. Padro-Fuentes was a fellowship recipient at the National Music Festival in Chestertown, Maryland and the National Symphony Orchestra Summer Music Institute in Washington D.C. under the baton of Elizabeth Schulze at the Kennedy Center. He has collaborated with artists like Rachel Podger (Baroque Violinist), Emma Resmini (Flutist) and was a pit musician in Stevie Wonder’s Songs in the Key of Life Tour. Mr. Padro-Fuentes has also participated in masterclasses with Rachel Podger, Alexandre Da Costa, the Avalon String Quartet and competed as a finalist in the San Antonio Tuesday Musical Club Young Artists Competition. In Spring 2016, Mr. Padro-Fuentes was awarded with the UTSA String Excellence Award, ASTA Service Award and a Performance Certificate in Violin.
Mr. Padro-Fuentes is excited to begin teaching at Antonio Strad and he cannot wait to share his love for music with others.
