Double basses by Christopher are made with pre-formed laminated veneers, a construction technique that gives the arch of the bass strength to resist succumbing to the weight of the strings, a common failure in many basses as they age. The back is deeply arched, yielding a fuller, richer tone, and the basses are finished in a medium golden brown durable varnish.
