Antonio Strad Violin is proud to welcome Mr. Thomas David Huckaby to the Strad Studio faculty. Mr. Huckaby is currently the Principal Double Bassist with the San Antonio Symphony and holds an impressive resume of playing experience, including: The Florida Orchestra, Grant Park Symphony, and the Indianapolis Orchestra. Winner of the Outstanding Achievement in Music Award at Interlochen and the Indiana University Concerto Competition, Mr. Huckaby is an outstanding choice for the advancing Bass player desiring to develop their level of playing further or the beginner looking to get ahead. Mrs. Winnie (as she is affectionately known) has played in a professional orchestra symphony for eighteen years as a second violin concert master. She is also one of Antonio Strad Violin’s Luthiers, a skill she acquired while attending the ShangHai Conservatory in China. Sweet and quiet by nature, she has been teaching for over twenty years and her students enjoy very much her friendly disposition. |

Mr. Phillip Schmitz graduated from Bob Jones University with a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education-Violin proficiency in 1994. He taught music in the Phoenix area for 13 years as an Orchestra Director and has recently moved his family to San Antonio. His students really enjoy his creativity and appreciate his positive attitude and entertaining teaching style. |

Mrs. Julie Cantu is a former NEISD Orchestra Director for 14 years and has been teaching privately in more recent years. With a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from UT Austin, she is certified to teach music at all levels. Mrs. Cantu received a performance certificate in cello and has Suzuki teacher training as well. |

Ms. Bethany Holder has been using the Suzuki Method for over 14 years and is a certified Suzuki instructor. Children respond wonderfully to Ms. Holder and she has performed with various symphonies over the years. |

Ms. Man Vu graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Texas State University in 2009. She has performed with the Austin Symphony Orchestra, artists from the Julliard School, and the Texas State Symphony. She recorded her first CD for a firefighters’ memorial with the Texas State Symphony. Ms. Vu enjoys very much sharing music with others. |
